Explore Taos

Explore The Soul of the Southwest

First and foremost, Taos is a place for artists and those who appreciate art in all its varied forms. It’s an enclave with more than 100 art galleries, fabulous museums and a residential population of nearly 6,000, 40% of whom are artists. Long before it emerged as an artist’s colony, though, the Taos Pueblo on Taos’ northern border was – and is – the oldest continuously inhabited community in the U.S.

Taos delights outdoor adventurers with its array of year-round activities, including rafting, horseback riding, golfing, mountain biking, fly fishing and llama trekking. In the winter, travelers flock to Taos to ski its four top-notch ski areas, Taos Ski Valley, Red River Ski Area, Sipapu and Angel Fire, or spend hours snow-shoeing, ice skating, ice fishing and snowmobiling.
