A Terrific Taos Holiday Season

This December, Taos offers an array of holiday-related events and activities for our guests, so we’ve provided a small list of suggestions for your consideration.

First, don’t miss the brilliant performance of Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov and the Taos Chamber Music Group when they present “Beyond Borders,” with selections of holiday music by American, Armenian, and Czech composers. Performance dates are Dec 14-16 at the Arthur Bell Auditorium at the Harwood Museum of Art. Next, be sure to save the date of December 24 for a most special event – the annual Christmas Eve Procession of the Virgin.

This unique event is truly inspirational, and something you’ll remember for years to come. On Christmas Day, leave your cameras and phones behind and come out to witness the pageantry of the traditional Taos Pueblo Deer (Matachinas) Dance at the Pueblo Plaza. Afterward, stick around until December 31 for the Town of Taos New Year’s Eve Celebration at Taos Plaza, and the New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks. Lastly, on January 1, be sure to return to Taos Pueblo to witness the symbolic beginning of a new year during the annual Turtle Dance.
