July Features the Taos Festivals and the Pow Wow
Be sure to join us this month for two of Taos’ most popular recurring events.
First, head over to the Taos Pueblo Pow Wow Grounds from July 12-14 for the 33rd Annual Taos Pueblo Pow Wow. Featuring three memorable days of traditional native American dance by members of tribes throughout the U.S., this event is a celebratory gathering of tribal nations, villages, pueblos, and bands, all sharing their traditional practices and beliefs. Dance competition categories include men’s traditional, fancy, grass, and chicken dances, women’s jingle dress, fancy shawl, and traditional dances, and age categories from Golden to Juniors, and even Tiny Tots.
The Pow Wow will also feature an abundant assortment of food vendors and crafts around the Pow Wow circle. Next, come out to the historic Taos Plaza from July 19-21 for Fiestas de Taos. This celebration for the Feasts of St. Anne and St. James is referred to as “The Taos Fiestas” and features music and dance performances, the selection of the Fiestas Queen, two parades, and a large variety of food and drink in honor of Taos unique cultural heritage.
