New Mexico's Grandest View

A journey out into the New Mexico desert can be a truly spiritual experience, filled with wonders both natural and manmade.

One of our state’s most stunning manmade structures, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge rises 565 feet above the river that shares its name. If heights make you squeamish, you might want to avoid the bridge, but all others will be enchanted by the sublime panoramic view unmatched by any other in the state. If you enjoy hiking, we also recommend exploring the Rio Grande Gorge State Park, where you’ll find several trails of varying difficulty that run alongside the river. Don’t forget to stay hydrated, as it gets very hot during the day, and keep an eye out for the many majestic waterfowl that call the gorge home, including sandhill cranes, Canada geese, and various kinds of ducks.
