A twisting, winding road through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Road to Taos Scenic Byway offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the state and has become home to many artisans and artists who have been inspired by its beauty and charm.

Although the High Road is a year-round attraction, the annual High Road Art Tour is always held the final two weekends of September. This month’s dates are September 22-23, and September 29-30.

Welcoming guests this year will be over 100 local artists, as well as galleries, studios, community centers, and Picuris Pueblo. Artists will be showcasing work in a variety of styles and mediums. Join us for the Art Tour, but also for the many additional events and attractions here. Gaucho Blue in Peñasco and the High Road Art Gallery in Truchas will feature farmers markets, and additional farm locations will be open to the public during the tour. Also, the USFS Peñasco Ranchers Station will host a Youth Art Show and Contest on both weekends. For a list of participating art venues and more information, call (888) 866-3643.
